Engine
You will recall the previous owner told
me the engine was a 30 HP Yanmar,
that only needed a starter. Well... My
Neighbor, remember him? The life long
sailor and boat builder. He took one
look (just what you see here) and said,
"that's no 30 horse, maybe a 12". I
didn't question him for a minute. Later
that day, I removed more of the engine
compartment and discovered the name
plate. "Yanmar YSB12". That is a
Yanmar 12 HP. I understand now why
the previous owner installed a transom
on the exterior and used a 8.8 HP
outboard.
One of my first priorities is to try and get this engine running. I do plan to install a 30 or 40 HP
diesel, but that is a project for the future. Stay tuned for more updates about the engine. Oh,
and the external transom must go. I think it messes up the natural beauty of the lines of this
design.
The Transom is just an eye sore on an otherwise gorgeous tail. It MUST go.
